From Holiday Cards to a “For Sale” Sign

Sometimes, the real win comes years before the listing goes live.

We first met Mark and Denise back in 2017 at an open house in NE Portland. They weren’t ready to buy or sell—just curious. But we stayed in touch. Over the years, we exchanged holiday cards, checked in every so often, and even grabbed coffee when we were in their part of town.

Then last month, I got the text: “We’re ready to sell.”

Their kids had grown, the house in Rose City Park (97213) suddenly felt too big, and retirement was calling. They told us they didn’t even consider another agent—because over the years, we’d built something more than a business connection. We’d built trust.

The process wasn’t simple. Their house needed prep: small repairs, a fresh coat of paint, and strategic staging to highlight its charm while leaving room for a buyer’s vision. They were overwhelmed, but we walked through it all—contractors, timelines, even which family photos to keep on the walls.

The home hit the Portland real estate market on a Thursday, and we had strong showings all weekend. By Monday, multiple offers. It closed two weeks later, above asking, to a buyer who fell in love with the home’s light, layout, and warmth—just like they once had.

This moment reminded us that real estate isn’t just about transactions. It’s about relationships that unfold over time. Trust doesn’t show up overnight. It’s built in quiet, consistent moments—over coffee, cards, and conversations that have nothing to do with selling.

That’s the heart of how we work. We show up early, stay in touch, and make sure when the moment does arrive, you know exactly who to call.
