Are We Making a Huge Mistake?

The text came in at 10:42 PM.
“Ben, can we talk tomorrow? We’re freaking out. What if this is a huge mistake?”

Our buyers had just gotten their SE Portland offer accepted that afternoon. What should’ve been a celebration had turned into a sleepless night of second-guessing. First-time homeownership has a way of doing that—especially in a fast-paced market like Portland real estate, where decisions happen quickly and everything feels high-stakes.

We hopped on a call early the next morning. I asked them to walk me through what was making them nervous. They listed everything—price, location, the age of the roof, whether they’d regret it five years from now. And you know what? All those concerns were valid. So instead of talking them down, we went back through everything step by step. We reviewed the inspection, looked at comparable homes, reminded them why they were drawn to this house in the first place.

By the end of the conversation, they both let out a sigh. “Okay. We needed this. Thank you.”

It wasn’t about selling the home—it was about standing beside them until they could feel the ground again.

These moments are the heartbeat of what we do. Real estate isn’t just transactions. It’s emotions, life shifts, big leaps—and we’re here for all of it.

If you’re thinking about buying or selling in the Portland area, we’d love to be part of your story.
