The Tearful Thank You on the Front Porch
It was just a house showing. Or so we thought.
Our client, a single mom named Erica, had been looking for a home in SE Portland for nearly a year. Offers came and went. Disappointments piled up. There were a few times she nearly gave up. But we kept showing up. She kept trusting the process, even when it felt like the odds were stacked against her.
Then, one Wednesday afternoon, we walked up to a modest blue bungalow with a covered porch and raised beds out front. She took two steps inside and whispered, “This is it.”
We moved fast—offered that night, negotiated hard, and by Friday, it was hers.
The day we handed her the keys, Erica met us at the front porch. She wasn’t smiling—she was crying. Through tears, she said, “I didn’t think this would ever happen for me. Thank you for never giving up.”
That moment didn’t make the headlines. But for us, it was everything.
In Portland real estate, it’s easy to focus on price points and timelines. But the truth is, what we’re really doing is helping people find belonging. Sometimes that looks like a yard for a kid to run in. Sometimes it’s a porch where you can finally exhale.
Every home has a story. We’re here to help you write the next chapter.
