When Showing Up Was the Win

Not every appointment ends with an offer, and not every client is ready to move forward. But sometimes, the simple act of showing up means more than anything else we could do.

A few weeks ago, I met with a family in North Portland who had just lost a loved one. They weren’t sure if they wanted to sell the house, keep it in the family, or just wait until emotions weren’t so raw. The truth was—they didn’t need a sales pitch. They needed someone to listen.

So that’s what we did. We walked the property, talked about memories, and discussed options without any pressure or timeline. No paperwork. No “next steps.” Just space to process what selling would mean for them.

At the end of the conversation, they thanked me—not because we had made a deal, but because they felt heard. They knew when the time was right, they could call and trust that the advice they’d get would be about more than numbers.

That’s the part of Portland real estate that outsiders don’t always see. Behind every address is a story, and sometimes the best thing we can do is simply show up for it.

Every home has a story. We’re here to help you write the next chapter.
