The Question We Hear Most at Showings
At nearly every showing in Portland, there’s one question buyers almost always ask: “Do you think this is a good deal?”
It came up again just last week as we walked through a craftsman-style home in Northeast Portland. The buyer loved the natural woodwork and the walkable location, but they were uneasy about the price tag. It’s a fair concern—Portland real estate moves fast, and buyers don’t want to overpay.
Instead of giving a quick yes or no, we slowed down. We pulled up recent comps in the neighborhood, talked through the pros and cons, and even pointed out a few upcoming listings nearby that might offer perspective. The buyer realized that while the house had charm, the value wasn’t quite lining up with the asking price. It wasn’t the answer they hoped for in the moment—but it was the answer that gave them peace of mind.
Moments like this remind us that our job isn’t to push buyers into a decision. It’s to provide the information, context, and experience so they can feel confident about the home they choose. The right home will always stand up to the hard questions.
That’s why clients trust us. Because in Portland real estate, honesty builds more lasting relationships than quick deals ever will.
If you’re thinking about buying or selling in the Portland area, we’d love to be part of your story.
