The Extra Mile You Never See
Most people see the sign go up, the open house, and the “Sold” sticker. What they don’t see are the late-night texts, the re-staging sessions, and the quiet problem-solving that happen between those moments.
A few weeks ago, we were helping a seller in Sellwood (97202) who had already moved out of state. The home looked great in photos, but after a few showings, feedback pointed to one recurring issue: the backyard felt “unfinished.” It wasn’t a big deal—just a patchy lawn and a few tired planters—but in Portland real estate, small details make big impressions.
So one Saturday morning, before another round of showings, we showed up with gloves, soil, and a few trays of plants. Two hours later, that yard looked alive again. The next buyer who toured the home made a full-price offer that afternoon.
The seller never knew about that morning until we told them at closing. They were surprised—and grateful. But for us, that kind of extra effort isn’t unusual. It’s just part of how we work.
That day reminded us that most of what builds trust in this business isn’t flashy. It’s quiet persistence, care, and doing what needs to be done even when no one’s watching.
In Portland real estate, the extra mile can be the difference between “almost” and “sold.”
Every home has a story. We’re here to help you write the next chapter.
